How can you tell the difference between warts and corns?

A corn and a wart may appear to most people to be the same thing. Corns and warts have a similar appearance. However, the two are diametrically opposed. Usually, warts have a grainy, fleshly appearance with black pinpoints. On the other hand, corns look more like a raised, hard bump surrounded by dry, flaky skin.

What is a wart?

A wart is essentially a virus-induced lesion. Warts are little skin growths that can appear on the foot, but they are not the only location where they can appear. They can appear anywhere on the body. The hands and fingers are the most affected parts.

Normally, our bodies can fight off this infection. However, stress, reduced immunity, or direct contact to the virus via things like common showers or swimming pool flooring can all cause the wart to appear. If they are not treated, they will just spread and reproduce.

What is a corn?

A corn is a thick layer of skin formed as a result of persistent friction and pressure. As a result, they frequently appear on the toes and feet. We frequently compare the form of corn to that of an ice cream cone, with the pointed end pressing into your foot. The pointed part of the corn is fairly deep and in the future, it may be very painful.

Corns, unlike plantar warts, are formed by wearing shoes that are either too tight or too loose, causing your foot to be under too much pressure or to slide about in the shoe. They also occur solely on the foot, but plantar warts can develop everywhere on the body. Corn comes in three varieties: hard, soft, and seed.

Difference between warts and corns

Warts appear quickly. Meanwhile, the development of corn can take months or even years. In most cases, warts are typically brought on by a viral infection. You may develop more than one wart, which may spread to other parts of your foot.

Warts and corns are not same. Another significant difference is that corns are not caused by a virus and are not communicable.

Corns are most painful when direct pressure is given to them, such as pressing on them with your finger. Warts, on the other hand, become more uncomfortable when pressed side to side or squeezed.

Skin lines (wrinkles) will form around the lesion in the case of a wart (skin spot). Corns, on the other hand, typically affect the skin’s surface.

How to treat

You should be careful about warts. The first step in avoiding warts is to prevent coming into touch with the virus. You shouldn’t hold or shake hands with somebody who has warts. Avoid utilizing wart-infected people’s personal care products. Do not pick at or bite your fingernails if you have a wart. This may allow the infection to spread to other places of your body.

Make sure your shoes fit properly to avoid corns. Your shoes should allow you to wriggle your toes. Otherwise, the shoes are too small.

Since a corn is pressure-related, the best general therapy is to carefully remove it and attempt to unload the affected region. However, in order to cure a wart, we must first activate the immune system, which may be done in a variety of ways.
